{"id":141,"date":"2004-10-12T01:16:12","date_gmt":"2004-10-12T05:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scaredpoet.com\/wordpress\/?p=141"},"modified":"2005-01-20T23:43:09","modified_gmt":"2005-01-21T04:43:09","slug":"not-so-fair-and-balanced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scaredpoet.com\/blog\/?p=141","title":{"rendered":"(Not so) Fair and Balanced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Boston Globe reports that Sinclair Broadcasting, a firm which owns a number of television stations in varying markets, has ordered all of its stations, regardless of network affiliation, to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.boston.com\/news\/politics\/president\/kerry\/articles\/2004\/10\/10\/anti_kerry_film_slated_to_air_on_eve_of_election\/\">broadcast a markedly anti-Kerry film as election day nears<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Sinclair has told its stations &#8212; many of them in political swing states such as Ohio and Florida &#8212; to air &#8221;Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal,&#8221; sources said. The film, funded by Pennsylvania veterans and produced by a veteran and former Washington Times reporter, features former POWs accusing Kerry &#8212; a decorated Navy veteran turned war protester &#8212; of worsening their ordeal by prolonging the war. Sinclair will preempt regular prime-time programming from the networks to show the film, which may be classified as news programming, according to TV executives familiar with the plan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&#8220;News programming.&#8221;  Nice.  And an interesting way of getting around the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.museum.tv\/archives\/etv\/E\/htmlE\/equaltimeru\/equaltimeru.htm\">equal time<\/a> rule.<\/p>\n<p>The film is scheduled to air between October 21 and 24.
