David] Battle&#8217;s ring to save as much of his finger as they could. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;But that would mean destroying my wedding ring,&#8221; he said. &#8220;My wife is the strongest woman I know. She&#8217;s basically running two people&#8217;s lives since I&#8217;ve been gone. I don&#8217;t think I could ever repay her or show her how grateful &#8230; how much I love my wife, my soul mate.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Call me selfish, but I&#8217;d save the damn finger!  If she were truly that strong, she&#8217;d understand that we&#8217;d maybe need to make another trip to the jewelry store when I get back.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, the story goes on to say they lost the ring anyway.
