{"id":552,"date":"2006-03-20T00:20:38","date_gmt":"2006-03-20T05:20:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.scaredpoet.com\/wordpress\/?p=552"},"modified":"2006-03-20T00:20:38","modified_gmt":"2006-03-20T05:20:38","slug":"pope-gets-an-ipod-catches-up-with-the-1960s","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/scaredpoet.com\/blog\/?p=552","title":{"rendered":"Pope gets an iPod, catches up with the 1960s."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While it&#8217;s no big Earth-shattering development that the Catholic church has been&#8230; well, a bit of a laggard in keeping up on that whole <em>science<\/em> thing.\u00a0 After all, there are still <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robert_Sungenis\">C<\/a><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Robert_Sungenis\">atholic apologists<\/a> out there who still insist the Earth is the center of the universe.<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s no surprise, the kind of statements the Pope would make <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"http:\/\/www.theage.com.au\/news\/breaking\/pope-benedict-gets-an-ipod\/2006\/03\/05\/1141493545217.html\">when he encounters a gift like an iPod<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Vatican Radio employees bought the Pope his iPod to commemorate his first visit to the station&#8217;s headquarters.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>Computer technology is the future<\/strong>,&#8221; the Pope is reported to have said when presented with the gift by the head of the station&#8217;s technical and computer support department.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Well, one thing&#8217;s for certain: Nostradamus he sure is not.
