O&A Strike again

Following another Assault on the Media, XM talk duo Opie & Anthony are making news again after a WBCS-2 reporter is fired for dropping the F-Bomb on live TV:

Chi’en was reporting live yesterday morning (5/19) from the entrance of a NYC subway, giving details about a MetroCard scam, when O&A crony Nathaniel slipped behind Chi’en with a very large O&A sign, shouting, “XM Satellite Radio.” Chi’en, who appeared to think his report had cut away to previously filmed footage, quickly turned around and yelled “What the f*ck is your problem, man?!,” at the departing Nathaniel. The entire outburst aired live.

Good one. 🙂

Of course this post wouldn’t be complete without a clip of the incident.

And now there’s “RansomWare”

In a way, I’m almost surprised hackers didn’t think of this before, but now that it is exists, I loathe its development… Ransomware:

Security researchers at San Diego-based Websense Inc. uncovered the unusual extortion plot when a corporate customer they would not identify fell victim to the infection, which encrypted files that included documents, photographs and spreadsheets.

A ransom note left behind included an e-mail address, and the attacker using the address later demanded $200 for the digital keys to unlock the files.

It’s going to be interesting to see if this really catches on. In a way though, the traceability of most non-cash payment systems in the post-9/11 environment would make such a proposition risky; an elaborate scheme would have to be put in place in order for investigators to lose the money trail.

So much for the poster boy

The Army blew up its own you-could-be-this-guy role model in a friendly fire incident, covers up the details of his death, and then wonders why his parents are having a fit?

“After it happened, all the people in positions of authority went out of their way to script this,” the father said. “They purposely interfered with the investigation, they covered it up. I think they thought they could control it, and they realized that their recruiting efforts were going to go to hell in a handbasket if the truth about his death got out. They blew up their poster boy.”

Gee, I wonder why recruitment is down…

A winning couple

Letourneau

So, the vital stats behind this couple:

1. He never finished high school, and is unemployed
2. She has a felony conviction for raping him, when he was 13.
3. Because of the conviction, she’s unemployable.
4. Between the deadbeat two of them, they have two kids.
5. Imagine the trauma those kids are gonna have when they’re told that their conceptions were, basically, crimes committed.

Yeah, romance is in the air here.
