And SPEAKING of a lack of originality…

Here’s a case where a lack of originality also meets bad taste.

The crew of the Miss Jones Show (also, see external site) on WQHT FM in New York (“Hot 97”) was suspended after it repeatedly ran a song – to the tune of “We Are the World,” of course – making fun of tsunami victims.

Also, the CNN version:

The piece used racial slurs to describe people swept away in the disaster, made jokes about child slavery and people watching their mothers die.

“You can hear God laughing, ‘Swim you b**ches swim,’ ” was one line in the song, sung by staff of the show to the melody of the 1985 famine relief song “We Are the World.”

Who could’ve possibly green lighted this?!

  1. FM radio is shit. Ever listen to KYTU in the morning? It’s all jokes that were funnt when I was in middle school and sex jokes were all like “OMG HARHARHAR”. YOu know the kind – licker-closet crap and tampon jokes. Honestly this kind of shit is right on most of their levels it seems. I’m not surprised. This is why we pay for XM, of course.
