This story is way old, but it just caught my eye, and the amount of oddness to this story, and the total disbelief I have for some of the more nutty of the religious folks out there made me want to highlight it.
It would appear that in Inglis, Florida, Satan is officially a persona non grata:
“Be it known from this day forward that Satan, ruler of darkness, giver of evil, destroyer of what is good and just, is not now, nor ever again will be, a part of this town of Inglis. Satan is hereby declared powerless, no longer ruling over, nor influencing, our citizens.”
And while we’re at it, I hereby declare the sky orange, too.
This is a far cry from the philosophy in rural Louisiana, where apparently sinners are quite welcome among their religious enclaves. 🙂
Oh, and check out the photo that goes along with this story [Ron Thomson, Times photos] :

I guess Elvis is alive and welcome in Inglis? 🙂

I don’t know about Elvis, but Florida should keep a look-out for that Devil character.
Because I’m sure everyone’s heard by now, “The devil went down to Georgia…” and some other crap.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
