Lawsuits. And the Suing Suers that file them.

For someone who calls himself a “journalist,” Bill O’Reilly has proven to be quite litigious lately.

First, he evidently goaded Fox News into suing – and losing the case against – Al Franken over his book which derides the right wing and entities like Fox News for being their political mouthpiece. Now, being accused of sexual harrassment, he decides to hit back hard against the accuser with a suit of his own:

In an aggressive preemptive strike filed today in New York State Supreme Court, O’Reilly names Fox associate producer Andrea Mackris and her lawyers as defendants in the action, which charges them with extortion, infliction of emotional distress, and wrongful interference with contractual relations.

“Infliction of emotional distress?” Oh, boo hoo, Bill. Now you know how I would feel if forced to watch your mouth flapping on TV.

(Not so) Fair and Balanced

The Boston Globe reports that Sinclair Broadcasting, a firm which owns a number of television stations in varying markets, has ordered all of its stations, regardless of network affiliation, to broadcast a markedly anti-Kerry film as election day nears:

Sinclair has told its stations — many of them in political swing states such as Ohio and Florida — to air ”Stolen Honor: Wounds That Never Heal,” sources said. The film, funded by Pennsylvania veterans and produced by a veteran and former Washington Times reporter, features former POWs accusing Kerry — a decorated Navy veteran turned war protester — of worsening their ordeal by prolonging the war. Sinclair will preempt regular prime-time programming from the networks to show the film, which may be classified as news programming, according to TV executives familiar with the plan.

“News programming.” Nice. And an interesting way of getting around the equal time rule.

The film is scheduled to air between October 21 and 24. To see if your local station is conservative-fundie-controlled and whether your favorite programs will be pre-empted by propaganda, have a look at what stations Sinclair owns.

If it’s not a wire, then who is W’s tailor?

A big brouhaha has erupted over whether Bush was wired with an earpiece at the most recent presidential debate, to get a little behind-the-scenes help in instances where he might find himself in an oratory jam.

Of course, the GOP laughs the theory off, calling the proponents a bunch of conspiracy-theory nuts.

I think W is trying to insult our intelligence:

wiremaybe

If that isn’t a wire snaking around under his suit, then that has to be the most horribly cut, ill-fitting piece of fabric I have ever seen a free-world leader wear. Where the hell does the federal government shop for clothes… Costco?
