Uhh, looks like alligators can be used as deadly weapons now:
David Havenner, 41, was scheduled for a bond hearing Saturday in Volusia County; he was held overnight Friday at the county’s Branch Jail on misdemeanor charges of battery and possession of an alligator, officials said.
Sheriff’s officials said Havenner was keeping the gator in his bathtub and swung it at his girlfriend, Nancy Monico, 39, during an argument Friday morning.
Uhhh… damn.
Apparently, a CD containing new, unreleased songs from U2‘s new upcoming album was stolen during a photo shoot:
“A large slice of two years work lifted via a piece of round plastic. It doesn’t seem credible but that’s what’s just happened to us… and it was my CD,” guitarist Edge told the band’s official Web site.
Those who were up in arms that devices like iPods were threats to sensitive data areas for their mass storage capability were probably jumping the gun a little bit. After all, you don’t need an iPod to steal classified material… apparently you can just waltz right out of Los Alamos with some discs:
All classified work at Los Alamos National Laboratory has come to a halt while officials conduct a wall-to-wall inventory of sensitive data.
The unprecedented stand-down began at noon Thursday, and the inventory of CDs, floppy disks and other data storage devices is expected to be completed within days, lab spokesman Kevin Roark said.
The stand-down comes after the lab reported last week that two items containing classified information turned up missing. The items were identified only as removable data storage devices.
Whoops. Guess the iPod isn’t needed. All the important stuff is packaged in removable storage, ready for the taking already.
