The Cries of Desperation

Okay, I understand that Terri Schiavo’s parents are a bit desperate right now, considering their daughter’s condition is deteriorating. However, their latest gambit, caterwauling and laying blame where it isn’t due, is getting very tiring and annoying.
When Unlimited, isn’t
Don’t you hate it when companies tout a service that they offer on an “unlimited” basis for a low flat fee, when in fact it’s not unlimited at all? Looks like customers of Packet8’s “Freedom Unlimited” VoIP phone service are running into just such an invisible wall. It turns out that in the opinion of Packet8 employees, 3,000-4,000 minutes a month constitutes the upper limit of “unlimited,” unless you contact them and justify your use. Discussion is on dslreports.com.
Backup, what?
We have a real top notch team running ibackups.net it seems. As of yesterday, the site was down showing this message:
As most of you are aware, iBackups is down due to issues beyond our control. We are sorry but there is nothing we can do at this time to resolve this.
Also, we cannot stress the seriousness of our terms regarding our refund policy to our customers. Filing a chargeback or dispute with your bank will result in legal action against you.
So let’s recap: they’re down, and if you were a client of theirs, then you’re screwed. If you try to unscrew yourself, they’ll SUE YA! Niiice.
What’s interesting is that in spite of their name, the web archive seems to indicate that they don’t have very much at all do to with backups. Instead, the site seems to be more a place for cut rate software downloads, perhaps masquerading as software “backups” that one can download if they “lose” their “originals.” The Yahoo cache of the site’s TOS also seems to back this up.
