Popcorn Fork: You KNOW you need it.

Yes, someone has taken on the horrid social problem of buttery-finger syndrome and has developed a Popcorn Fork.

GUARANTEED A FUN AND PRACTICAL TOOL
It’s great for “real people” snacks like caramel
corn, cheese balls, corn chips, etc. A new
way to eat foods like pasta, sushi and oriental
salads. I’ll bet you can think of more!

Oh golly gee, I just bet!!

Though honestly, I think it more practical to pick up my “real people” snacks with my real fingers. Call me old fashioned.

“Smart Keys” have had their day.

keys

A team claims to have cracked the Immobilizer, a security system developed by Texas Instruments that uses imbedded chips in keys to authenticate before a car will start.

Oh, and yes, it is the same RFID technology that’s used in things such as the SpeedPass System:

Researchers said they were able to crack that code, too.

“We stole our own car, and we bought gas stealing from our own credit card,” said Avi Rubin, a professor of computer science at Johns Hopkins who led the research team.

Smartphone goodness makes it to GSM

Cingular_treo

Good news: For those who have been waiting for a GSM version of the Treo 650, it’s rumored for release next week, through Cingular Wireless.

Bad news: Like the Sprint version of this phone, the DUN profile (allowing someone to “tether,” or connect via bluetooth to this device with a computer and use it as a wireless data connection) is disabled.

Even worse news: Unlike the Sprint version of this phone, Cingular has been rumored to take extra steps to ensure that the DUN hack for the Treo 650 will not re-enable tethering.

How much does it cost to beg forgiveness?

After flowers, phone calls and visits didn’t work, some poor schmuck who’s trying to make up with his estranged wife paid $17,000 to take out an ad in the local newspaper, begging for forgiveness.

“Please believe the words in my letter, they are true and from my heart,” read the ad in Tuesday’s edition of The Florida Times-Union. “I can only hope you will give me the chance to prove my unending love for you. Life without you is empty and meaningless.”

So let’s recap.

  • A Dozen roses: $49.99
  • Cell phone bill: $39.99 (if you’re cheap)
  • Advertisement in newspaper: $17,000
  • Mending a marriage? More than anyone can afford, it seems. 🙂
  • And SPEAKING of a lack of originality…

Here’s a case where a lack of originality also meets bad taste.

The crew of the Miss Jones Show (also, see external site) on WQHT FM in New York (“Hot 97”) was suspended after it repeatedly ran a song – to the tune of “We Are the World,” of course – making fun of tsunami victims.

    Also, the CNN version:

The piece used racial slurs to describe people swept away in the disaster, made jokes about child slavery and people watching their mothers die.

“You can hear God laughing, ‘Swim you b**ches swim,’ ” was one line in the song, sung by staff of the show to the melody of the 1985 famine relief song “We Are the World.”

Who could’ve possibly green lighted this?!
